Account and privacy

This chapter covers your account details, password and signing out, and how to delete your chat history, what Alphie remembers about you, and the passwords and keys you've saved.

Where do I see my account details?

Click Settings in the left sidebar → General at the top → the Account section shows your Username, Display Name and Email. They can only be viewed on the page, not edited.

How do I change my password?

  1. Click Settings in the left sidebar → Security at the top.
  2. In the Password section, click Change Password.
  3. Enter your current password, a new password (at least 8 characters) and the new password again, then click Update Password.

What if I forget my password?

The login page shows a Forgot password? link, but clicking it currently does nothing; there is no self-service password recovery on the page. Keep your password safe; while signed in you can change it at any time as described above.

How do I sign out?

Either way works:

  • At the bottom of the left sidebar, there is a sign-out button to the right of your name.
  • The Sign Out button in Settings → General → Account.

How do I delete my chat history?

There is currently no way to delete chat history.

  • The chat page has no "clear chat" button and no way to delete individual messages.
  • The Clear Cache button under Settings → General → Data & Account does not delete your chat history.
  • Alphie can't delete your chat history for you in chat either.

How do I see and delete what Alphie remembers about me?

  • To view it: click Library in the left sidebar → Persona at the top → the card named Alphie, labelled "Your living profile". It shows what Alphie knows about you, such as your preferences, habits and things you've told it. This view is read-only; you can't edit or delete anything on the page itself.
  • To delete an item: tell Alphie in chat, e.g. "Delete the memory that I live in Shanghai" or "Forget what you know about my job". Alphie removes it from its long-term memory, effective immediately. If you're not sure what it has stored, ask first: "What do you remember about me?".
  • To correct an item: just say so, e.g. "Correction: I live in Beijing now".
  • This deletes what Alphie remembers, not the chat history itself. If you mention the same thing in chat again later, it may learn it again.

How do I delete saved passwords, authorization codes and API keys?

  • API keys: in Settings → General → Plan & Models, click Remove on that provider's row. See "Quota and API keys".
  • Other saved credentials (e.g. an email authorization code): Settings → Security → Vault Credentials lists everything you've saved. Click the delete button at the right of a row and confirm. Deletion can't be undone, and features that used it will need it again.

Can I close (delete) my whole account?

There is currently no way to close your account on the page.

Can other people see my chats, memory and knowledge bases?

No. Your chat history, what Alphie knows about you and your knowledge bases belong only to your account; other users can't see them. Your knowledge bases can only be read by you and the agents you attach them to. The Bio you write under Message → Settings is shown to people who search for you or receive your friend request.
